Stagg Jr. Bourbon Review

Proof: 134.4 Proof (67.2% ABV) – Cask Strength / Non-Chill Filtered

Rating:  3 Barrels(3 out of 5)

For fans of George T. Stagg, Buffalo Trace released a “sibling” this Fall called Stagg Jr.  This bourbon is not aged as long as GTS and hit the market with much anticipation from the drinking public.  It was difficult to find in my area until just before Thanksgiving based [...]

Pretzel Bun Recipe

By: Fork & Stave

I’ve been looking for a good recipe for a pretzel bun that I could use when I’m making hamburgers or grilled chicken sandwiches.  It took some research along with several test batches, but I’ve put together a really easy recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Package active dry yeast (easy to find in the baking aisle)
  • 1 ½ Cup warm water [...]

Pumpkin Old Fashioned Cocktail Recipe

By: Fork & Stave

Fall is upon us and what better way to get in the Autumn spirit than with a unique cocktail?  For this play on the Old Fashioned cocktail, I infused some W.L. Weller bourbon with Libby’s pure pumpkin mash.  Pumpkin blends very well with the caramel and vanilla flavors of the Weller.  I wanted to incorporate brown sugar as well, so I made some brown sugar cubes.  I included that recipe below, but [...]

Hirsch Small Batch Reserve Bourbon Review

By: Fork & Stave

Proof: 92 Proof (46% ABV)

Rating: 3 Barrels (3 out of 5)

I ran across this bottle at my local retailer last weekend and I thought I would give it a shot.  I’ve read good things about the Hirsch label, but it’s usually about their older expressions that are well into the triple digit price range.  This particular product from Anchor Distilling Company in San Francisco, California, has numerous accolades [...]
