Bourbon, Lemon, and Tonic (BLT) Cocktail Recipe

By: Fork & Stave

I’m not a big fan of cocktails using tonic, but I recently tried the wonderful stuff from Brooks Reitz and I was hooked.  It’s so delicious that I began looking for ways to incorporate it into a cocktail with my favorite spirit, bourbon.  One of my favorite cocktails of this Summer was the BLT.  The fresh citrus flavors from the lemon and tonic paired with the toffee, caramel, and vanilla flavors from the bourbon over crushed ice is pretty hard to beat on a hot day or warm evening.

What you’ll need:

– 1 Lemon

– Bourbon

– Tonic (Jack Rudy or Fevertree are my favorites)

– Soda water (if you’re using Jack Rudy)

Step 1 –

Add 1.5oz bourbon and 2oz of tonic to a rocks or double old fashioned glass.

Step 2 –

Add the juice from one half of the fresh lemon.

Step 3 –

If you’re using a tonic like Fevertree, it’s already going to have a good bit of carbonation to it.  If you are using Jack Rudy tonic, I like to add a splash of soda water at the end.

Step 4 –

Fill the glass to the top with crushed ice.  Garnish with a lemon wedge or with a lemon twist and serve.  Cheers!
